Are you curious about our name? "Pamplemousse" (POMP-le-moose) is the French word for Grapefruit. Salem historically has had a large French community, and with our European-styled housewares and foods and our line of fine French wines, we think the word fits us just fine - and it's fun to say!
We are a fun, eclectic place to shop in downtown Salem, a welcome alternative to the chain stores, and we think you'll enjoy our funky, artistic style. More than just a store, we strive to be a place where you feel immediately at home as our guest - a place where you can stop and chat and try our many wines, craft beers and gourmet foods, and be inspired by our huge selection of kitchen tools, cookware, tableware, gifts, and decor items.
The store owners, Diane Manahan and Angela Lordi make a special effort to keep the store an active part of the Salem community. Pamplemousse sponsors wine/beer tastings and other popular events at various times of the year (including October, of course!) and work hard to carry locally-made art, crafts, linens, candies, wines and foods to give our store a truly unique Salem flavor.
